Lending a Helping Hand: Spruce Pine NC Hurricane Helene Relief

When disaster strikes, it's heartwarming to see communities come together to support one another. Caputo Excavating, a company based in South Kortright, NY, has always been committed to giving back to their community and helping those in need. They firmly believe that their success is rooted in this philosophy, and they take pride in being part of a close-knit community.

When Hurricane Helene devastated parts of the country, Caputo Excavating knew they had to step up and make a difference. Raymond Hayes, the owner, found the perfect opportunity to partner with Wilmington Response, a not-for-profit disaster relief agency. They were seeking volunteers with equipment and expertise to assist the small town of Spruce Pine, North Carolina, which has a population of less than 3,000 people – a community not unlike those surrounding Caputo Excavating's home base in Delaware County.

Without hesitation, Raymond and his trusted colleague Nakota Lame hit the road with their truck, trailer, excavator, and chainsaws. They arrived in Spruce Pine on Saturday, January 12, ready to dedicate a week of their time to help rebuild this tight-knit community.
